Changes to the Default Module

Starting Monday, April 10, the usc module will once again automatically load upon login to CARC systems. You will no longer need to enter module load usc manually. Additionally, the default module will be switching over to the new gcc 11.3 compiler.

Any users that still wish to use the older software stack based on gcc 8.3 can manually load it by entering module load usc/8.3.0. Please note : the new software stack has been optimized to run on our newer compute nodes. Older nodes with xeon-2650v2 CPUs can only use the software stack based on gcc 8.3. These nodes are in debug and oneweek partitions on Discovery and a few nodes on Endeavour.

We apologize for the confusion these changes may have caused. This additional change is to ensure that the processes our users are accustomed to are restored. If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please submit a help ticket or reach out to carc-support@usc.edu.
