Launch of /scratch1 File System

We have launched the new higher performance /scratch1 file system which has replaced /scratch. /scratch1 has 1.6 PB of total storage capacity and each user will automatically receive a 10 TB directory in /scratch1.

Under the new policy, /scratch1 will undergo a data purge every 90 days. Files stored in /scratch2 will still be retained in between jobs, however please keep in mind that files stored in both scratch systems are not backed up. To prevent data loss, files stored here should be regularly backed up.

The previous /scratch file system will remain available for read-only files for 2 weeks. After this time, all files in /scratch will be deleted.

Thanks.
