Scavenge partition on carc

Hi,
On the hpc there was a scavenge partition. I don’t see this any more – is there a plan to resume a scavenge partition?

@mchaisso No plans for a scavenge partition as the condo cluster (Endeavour) is now separate from the general-use cluster (Discovery). However, there is a partition named shared on Endeavour that you could use instead.

I see. The use case is to try and crank through a bunch of small jobs, which scavenge was able to do without disrupting others. I think shared could work for this.

On Discovery, the oneweek and debug partitions often have idle nodes, so that could work too, but they are relatively older nodes. Also, you might consider using Launcher to pack a bunch of small jobs into one Slurm job: https://carc.usc.edu/user-information/user-guides/software-and-programming/launcher
