Update on /scratch2 Capacity and User Quotas

Due to continued high usage of the /scratch2 file system, we have decreased the default quota size to 20 TB per user, down from 30 TB. This decrease in quota won’t affect the majority of you – most users are always using well below 20 TB. Your 10 TB quota for /scratch will remain unchanged.

As mentioned in previous emails, the scratch file systems (/scratch and /scratch2) are intended for temporary and intermediate data storage, but not for long-term storage. You should be storing the majority of data in your /project directory. If the amount of data in these file systems continues to increase, we will be forced to reinstate the data purging policy on the scratch file systems.

If you have any issues moving your data, please submit a help ticket.
